Lauren Calta stands up for people who cannot stand up for themselves. She sees and treats insurance companies for what they are: predators who go after the vulnerable.
"Insurance companies prey upon those who are down and out," she says. "They'll try to force people into minimal settlements if they don't have representation. I don't let that happen on my watch."
A New York City native who moved to Florida in 1994, Ms. Calta graduated Magna Cum Laude from St. John's University in 1988 with a degree in Criminal Justice. She earned her Juris Doctorate from Brooklyn Law School in 1991, where she received the American Jurisprudence Award in Evidence.
She began her career as an Assistant District Attorney with the Kings County District Attorney's Office, prosecuting felony cases, presenting indictments to the Grand Jury, and arguing appellate issues before the New York Appellate Division of the Supreme Court. In 1995, she transitioned from criminal law to personal injury law in Florida.
After 22 years of practice devoted exclusively to representing injured parties, Ms. Calta opened Zervos & Calta, PLLC in 2017 with her partner, Angela Zervos. She meets with every client personally from the initial consultation through settlement or verdict. She remains actively involved with her clients from the beginning to the end of a case and understands how devastating an accident can be.
With over 30 years of litigation experience in personal injury cases, Ms. Calta has handled wrongful death claims, motor vehicle accidents, motorcycle collisions, pedestrian accidents, bicycle accidents, traumatic brain injuries, trucking accidents, and slip and fall cases.
She has been actively involved in mass tort litigation against the tobacco industry and pharmaceutical companies, representing women who developed cancer from hormone replacement therapy.
